Chell!

I beat Portal 2 and it was AMAZING. So, in celebration, I drew our silent protagonist Chell! You really learn a lot more about her in this game and I think she's brilliant.

If you've never played Portal 1 or 2, I can't recommend them highly enough!

Color painting

We're finally doing digital paintings in COLOR in Drawing From the Tablet. They're so much more fun to do now! Here's one I did of my room mate, and also an in-class one that I didn't finish. The model was lit by craaaaazy colored lights.

Horses

As an assignment for Character Design we had to design something then do the skeletal structure and the muscles for it. I had honestly not tried to draw a horse since probably 8th grade, and suddenly decided I need to know how! I did probably 10 pages of just horse sketches before finishing this. I think I can safely say it paid off?

Anyway, here’s the final result, some kind of pseudo-prehistoric war horse beast. I have him the feet of some of the earliest horse relatives because they’re super cool and 3-toed. I didn’t give him any coloring yet, maybe I’ll do that someday.

Narrative update!

Long time no update, whoops! I've got lots of stuff to put up here so the next few posts are going to be a little image-heavy.

First up is our second assignment for Narrative Illustration: we had to write a supernatural story set in Baltimore with 3 illustrations to go with it, and a cover. The story's called 'Providence' and here's a quick summary: a man named Chuck is down on his luck. As he's about to commit suicide off a bridge he's stopped by a mysterious stranger, who then offers to change his luck for the better. The only catch is that he has to live life to the fullest and never take it for granted. So he wins the lottery and becomes a very successful businessman, marries and has kids, and is generally happy for a while until things start to go downhill and eventually he's back being depressed because he's pushed everyone away. So the stranger comes back and, since he broke the deal, sadly takes away his life.

So there you have it! A bittersweet story, maybe a bit more on the bitter side. I really enjoyed working on it, though.
